Experience the elegance of centuries at Chateau de La Barre, the family home of the Comte and Comtesse de Vanssay, twentieth generation in the same location. The chateau lies in a buccolic setting at the entrance to the Loire Valley, between Chartres and Tours, less than 2 hours from Paris, in the midst of a 100 acre private park with woods, meadows, gardens and XVIth century fortifications.
The chateau is decorated with beautiful XVIIIth century antiques, objets d'art, oil paintings and portraits of various family ancestors, and designer fabrics throughout.

Guy and Marnie de Vanssay offer a personal and international welcome to their guests, and tea or cider from the property is served daily on the terrace or in front of the monumental fireplace of the Salon Rose. They will be more than happy to provide tips for sightseeing, maps, reservations in local gourmet restaurants, or organise special events such as hot air balloon flights, race car driving around the legendary Le Mans track, Renaissance lunches in Leonardo da Vinci's room, winetastings etc.

A prestigious Grand Siecle dinner is hosted twice a week upon prior reservation in the XVIIth century dining room. On other nights, a light supper can be provided in the XIVth century billiard room.

Alternatively, fast speed TGV train from Paris Montparnasse to Vendôme Villiers (43 min) and rent a car there. Chateau de La Barre is 25 minutes from Vendome
