THE XARA PALACE, Relais & Chateaux, is a fabulous late 17th century property uniquely located within the historic, noble and silent city of Mdina, the old capital city of Malta.

The Xara Palace, Relais & Chateaux, is located just a few metres from the main entrance of the walled historical city of Mdina and opened its doors to receive its first guests on the 1st May 1999. These duplex suites are yet again a work of art. Furnished with antique selected pieces and warm-coloured fabrics, each of these rooms offer comfort and a feeling of serenity. Both rooms have a writing desk and two comfortable sofas in the lounge. A TV is also available in the lounge.

This accommodation offers stylish furnishings, grandeur and rich surroundings and overlooks the beautiful external courtyard to the hotel as well as the Vilhena Palace which were the Law Courts in the time of the Knights.
Furnishings include a dining table for 6 people a lovely sitting room with armchairs and sofa, a writing table, an antique chest of drawers dating back to the Knights as well as old lamps and original works of art.

The peace and serenity of Mdina today belies a history which is as colourful and eventful as that of the Maltese Islands. Perched on a rocky plateau with a near 360 degree view of the island, Mdina is the perfect example of a medieval fortress.
Mdina is situated centrally on the island and thus can be reached fairly easily by all local means of transport. Once reaching Rabat, the suburb, going around Mdina is best done by foot to experience the architecture of the so-called Silent City. A limousine service is bookable from the hotel for airport transfers (Merceded S Class, BMW 5 Series, Mercedes E Class)
Parking:Large car parks outside the three gates of Mdina accommodate daily a great
number of cars. To park in Mdina, we are to request that the local Council grants us a special Access Permit for our guests.€ 30.00 fee per car for any length of stay.
