Hotel Description
Formerly a 17th Century Rectory, the Lords of the Manor stands within eight acres of secluded gardens and parkland. For generations the house was the home of the Witts family, historically Rectors of the Parish and it is from these origins that the hotel derives its distinctive name. Here the Reverend F E Witts, the first Lord of the Manor, wrote his famous chronicle of the 18th Century, "The Diary of a Cotswold Parson". Situated in the heart of the Cotswolds, the picturesque village of Upper Slaughter has changed very little in the last 200 years. Still retaining many unique characteristics and charms, the Lords of the Manor is ideally located for exploring the magnificent surrounding countryside from the luxury and elegance of an award winning hotel. Slaughter Brook meanders through the village and grounds of the house. At Eyeford, half a mile upstream, Milton is reputed to have written his famous trilogy "Paradise Lost"
Luxury Hotel Accommodation
Each bedroom is individually designed and luxuriously furnished for the ultimate in comfort, with some of the larger Rectory rooms offering extensive views of the gardens and lake. The reception rooms of the house have been preserved with a sense of style and character - with blazing log fires throughout the winter months and during the Summer, French windows are thrown open to provide an idyllic setting on the terrace, offering an exquisite setting for alfresco dining. The service - as you would expect from a bespoke hotel - takes its cue from the idyllic surrounds. Without intruding on the peace and relaxation of your stay, you will find that our staff attend to your every need. This is how a Country House Hotel should be.
