The Devonshire Arms Country House Hotel has been in the family of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire since 1733. Based in the family's Bolton Abbey Estate in North Yorkshire the hotel was traditionally a coaching house.

Based in the Yorkshire Dales, The Devonshire Arms is surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in England. Be it footpaths along the River Wharfe to the most spectacular ruins of the 12th century Bolton Priory. The view across the Yorkshire Dales from Simons' Seat or the ride on the traditional steam train from Bolton Abbey station. The comfort of the sofa that you sink into in front of the roaring fires of The Devonshire or the work out and swim in The Devonshire Health Spa, there is something for everyone.

There are 40 individually furnished rooms equipped to high standards with all the little extras to make your stay especially comfortable: light and airy duvets with colourful throws (sheets and blankets are available if you prefer); fluffy bathrobes; big soft towels; luxury toiletries and bone china cups and saucers with a choice of quality teas and coffee. The Dowager Duchess of Devonshire personally supervises the interior d�cor and choice of soft furnishings using antiques, personal memorabilia and artwork some of which are from Chatsworth in Derbyshire.

There are rooms that look out across to the Dales countryside whilst others overlook the Italian garden or towards the trough garden. There are three suites - Herbert Royle and Lismore on the ground floor and Beamsley, which is on two floors and is ideal as a large family room. There are several four-poster bedrooms - perfect for a romantic break or honeymoon.
