General Description
With Broadoaks you have a found a real gem and it certainly ticks all the boxes for romance, country house chic, gourmet dining and even welcoming our four-legged friends. From the moment you approach its sweeping drive, pass the manicured lawns with the lover’s swing beneath the broad oak tree and admire the central fountain, the 19th century house stands impressively looking out across 7 acres of land and breathtaking views of the Lake District - you can even hear the beck that runs through the hotel grounds. We have 15 individually bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms with whirlpools.
Overview
Once inside, you will be greeted warmly by its young and friendly staff on arrival. The arts and crafts music room is welcoming with its roaring fire and grand piano whilst the Michelin recommended restaurant offers fine dining by its creative and considerate chef. Each of the 15 bedrooms – all named after trees in the Lake District, are beautifully and individually decorated with tasteful period styling. Four poster beds, deep colours, silk cushions and whirlpools in the bathrooms are just some of the features. In each room, there’s a personalised letter welcoming the guests, with refreshments and chocolates thoughtfully laid out.

What’s more, the hotel is pet-friendly too. Rooms on the ground floor can cater for pets and there’s even a welcoming letter for your pet and a nutritious Four Paws Menu approved by the hotel’s resident dog, Molly. There’s an excellent choice of walks straight from the hotel offering an invigorating day’s dog walking.

The Sequoia Suite

The new Sequoia Master Garden Suite is now available at Broadoaks Hotel in Cumbria. This suite is an extension to the existing coach house building and the jewel in Broadoak’s crown.

Luxury accommodation with a hand carved Victorian four poster bed in the master bedroom and a double whirlpool bath, this suite is perfect for a romantic getaway for two. Or if it’s too good to let the family miss out on bring them with you and make use of the second family bedroom.

Every room at Broadoaks is different, each room has its own character and unique wow-factor. The rooms situated in the main building are named after a type of tree. Check out 'Pine' or 'Elm' if you really want to spoil yourself.

Cedar Deluxe Double Room - This Victorian deluxe double room is situated within the main house. The room has a very comfortable and romantic antique king-size Victorian canopy bed, dressed with cream voiles and gold silk cushions. The bathroom has a luxury spa bath and is also tastefully decorated, with traditional Victorian tiles.

From the full-height antique leaded windows you have superb views over the tree-lined valley and out on to the fast-flowing beck that that runs through the Broadoaks estate heading to Lake Windermere.

Spruce Deluxe Double Room - Recently decorated, this deluxe double room has beautiful high ceilings and a very comfortable and romantic Victorian hand-carved 4-poster, bed dressed with deep red silk cushions. The bathroom is spacious and has a luxury double spa corner bath.

From the window, you can see across to the Langdale Pikes and to the hotel’s own historic courtyard, between the main house and the original coach house.

Willow Standard Double Room - This luxurious standard double room is situated in the main house. The bathroom has been creatively designed to sit on a slightly raised platform, so you can look down into your bedroom while sitting in the corner spa bath. The Victorian brass bedstead is very comfortable and has been dressed with romantic red silk cushions.

From the window, you can see a side view of the beautifully manicured Broadoaks gardens.

By Car:
From the North:
- Take the M6 motorway.
- Exit at junction 40.
- Join the A592 past Pooley Bridge and Ullswater, culminating with the spectacular Kirkstone Pass.
- The road will wind down through the charming valley of Troutbeck where, near the bottom of the valley, take a right hand turn up the hill towards Troutbeck village.
- Drive through the village and follow this road (Bridge Lane) towards Troutbeck Bridge, passing the historic ‘Townend House’ along the way.
- After approximately one mile you will find Broadoaks on your left.

From the South:
- Take the M6 motorway.
- Exit at junction 36.
- Follow the signs for Windermere and the Southern Lake District.
- After approximately 12 miles, the A591 road will lead you past Windermere village towards Ambleside.
- At the small roundabout at Cook’s House Corner, continue straight over from where you will come to the next small village, Troutbeck Bridge.
- Proceed through the village and, just after the Esso petrol station, take the right turning signposted Troutbeck (YHA sign).
- Follow this road for approximately one mile and Broadoaks is on the right-hand side.

By Air:
Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds/Bradford, Liverpool and Newcastle airports offer easy access to the area. Manchester Airport has its own rail station with direct services to Windermere.

By Coach:
National Express Rapide services from London (Victoria) to Kendal, Ulverston, Ambleside, Barrow and Windermere.

By Train:
The nearest train station is in Windermere, a 10 minute taxi ride away. Stations for the area include Lancaster and Oxenholme - the Lake District (near Kendal) on the main West Coast line.
