Cloncaird Castle is located in the most magical and spectacular countryside setting of South Ayrshire in South West Scotland, on the banks of the River Doon.

The castle courtyard atrium will hold up to 120 guests. This is the historic courtyard where 60 Kennedy clan horsemen gathered one September night in 1530 to mount an armed raid on the neighbouring family across the river. The Atrium Courtyard as we know it today has been re-modelled to provide this most spectacular venue in Scotland.

The Castle and Cottages are set within a 140 acre estate, hosting romantic riverside walks, salmon fishing and shooting which can be arranged on request.

The holiday cottages at Cloncaird Castle are boutique bespoke; they all have just undergone a complete major renovation project, which includes under floor heating, oak panelled living areas, log fires, Brazilian slate and oak floors, with most of the cottages having en-suite showers and toilets. The furnishing are designers guild and we have mixed a contemporary feel with the old. The cottages are either granite or sandstone and are original buildings which were used for various requirements of Country Estate Living spanning over one hundred years.

A perfect centre for a family holiday, South Ayrshire is rich in history. There are many castles and historic places to explore, including Culzean Castle which is nearby.

This is a great place for walking, either hill walking, or along the shingle and sandy beaches which are fun for children and dogs, or along the riverside paths.

There are some beautiful gardens to visit, particularly good in late spring when the rhododendrons and azaleas are in flower. The area is also good for bird watching.

Ayrshire is famous for its golf courses - the championship courses at Turnberry and Troon are nearby and there are several interesting and friendly local courses where it is inexpensive to play or learn.

We are only a short drive from Prestwick International Airport and one hour ten minutes from Glasgow Airport. Cloncaird Castle is also within easy reach of many Top Ayrshire Golf courses such as Turnberry being only 25 minutes drive.<br /><br />A private helipad is in place for visitors.
